Sophist Radio Episode 22: Misers, Poopsockers, and Sexbot Lovers

We here at The Sophist believe in the integrity of the podcasting medium. For this precise reason we have decided to introduce this podcast we the real issues plaguing videogames. Sexbots. Laugh not dear listener, the robot revolution has begun. It will not be long before you and your kin are corralled into human work camps forced to eat only the liquefied remains of your fallen comrades.

Anyway, besides the imminent demise of our species we make time to discuss some games such as: Pixel Junk Shooter, Dark Void, The Saboteur, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, The Devil's Tuning Fork, Sands of Destruction, Assassin's Creed 2, and the God of War 3 demo.

Also, returning to our format of Too Fast Too Furious Two Fun Two Serious we delve into which of the two upcoming motion controllers are preferable, who is the smartest videogame character, How we feel about Facebook, Twitter and Netflix integration now, and who we cosplay as if forced to by gunpoint.

Sophist Radio Episode 19: In Memorial to the Late, Great Alex R. Cronk-Young

In this Black Friday, slightly Turkey-day themed episode your heroes return to the format used in the previous podcast. Although, now it has a name: 2 Fun, 2 Serious! You have to say it like the movies involving Vin and motorvechicles, hence the numbers.

We discuss if it is too soon to have meta games, Modern Warfare 2's "No Russian" stage, and what our favorite food related games are. In the Crap we have been playing section we talk about: Modern Warfare 2 and Harold's surprising response to it, Bit Trip Void, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, TorchLight, Shin Magami Tensei Imagine, Retro Game Challenge, Dragon Age, and Assassin's Creed 2.

Dragon Age Review

This review was originally written for www.CerebralPop.com

Platform/s: PC, Playstation 3 (reviewed), Xbox 360

Developer: BioWare

Publisher: EA (Electronic Arts)

I am not a fan of high fantasy. I have never finished a book authored by Tolkien and I have never played Dungeons and Dragons. I just can't get into the whole high fantasy vibe. It just doesn't click for me. Never has. High fantasy has always seemed childish with its overuse of racial archetypes, reoccurring plot elements, and its over abundance of the mythical. When I hear the word Wizard, I just can't help but laugh. I prefer a world that seems more plausible then what most high fantasy tends to offer.

Before some of my more overzealous readers decide that I should be magic missle'd for my previous statements, know that Dragon Age is for people like me. Although, I'm pretty sure you guys would like it as well.

Sophist Radio Episode 18: Potpourri

Sophist Radio is back again with another thrilling episode! An episode jam packed with tales of defecating in public bathrooms, third world dictatorships, common misspellings of Africa, and man-crushes. In this episode we decided to try a new format where in stead of one giant topic we have four smaller timed topics. I know what your going to say. "Oh, Sophist Radio that is three more topics then my little underdeveloped brain can handle." Our response: "don't worry they are only ten minutes long each."

Games discussed are: Tropico 3, Afrika, Left 4 Dead 2 Demo, Battlefield Heroes, Pixel Junk Monsters, and a somewhat boring talk about Dragon Age ( For which Aaron is very sorry about).
